Prince Johnson Predicts 2017 Ticket

They formed an alliance in 2011 and went to the poll, but failed to obtain the 50 percent plus one of the total votes cast in the election, like all 22 parties that went into the race as required by the Constitution of Liberia, which resulted to a runoff between the Congress for Democratic Change and the governing Unity Party of Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

However, while the CDC under the standard bearer of Cllr. Winston A. Tubman, was gearing up for the runoff, heavily relying on the unpredictable Senator Prince Y. Johnson, who came third in the poll, he pulled the rug from under the CDC and gave his support to President Sirleaf, terming the decision as the “lesser of two evils.”

Now the man thrown out by his own party has predicted here that if he and the political leader of the Congress for Democratic Change Senator George Weah were to form another alliance in 2017, they will win in the first round.

According to PYJ, God has revealed to him thru a vision that an alliance between him and Senator George Weah for the 2017 Presidential election will take them into the Executive Mansion.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with The NewDawn on Monday, 16 March via mobile phone in Monrovia, he however warned that anything contrary to a Prince Johnson-George Weah ticket will see the Americo-Liberians maintaining power with more suffering for the Liberian people.

Senator Johnson disclosed that he has held series of discussions with Senator Weah in this regard, but didn’t say what has been the response of the CDC political leader.

This paper was not able to obtain comment from the CDC as its National Chairman, Nathaniel McGill, and other senior executives, including Senator George Weah himself, are said to be currently out of the country.

He however added that God will decide before the 2017 elections whether such alliance will materialize or not.

“This vision is from God Almighty, not from me and if we failed to follow such, we will end up in the hands of the Americo-Liberians or the Congo people again. Another thing that I see in achieving this is, he (Weah) has his people and I have mine; whether the two groups will be willing to work together that is another thing,” PYJ pointed out.

He said Weah is now a senator like himself, which makes the relationship between both of them very close, but noted that politics is a different game where no can predict the future.

According to him, there are some political detractors, who may not want such deal to work, but if God approved, the team will be formed and the Liberian people will highly appreciate it.

Senator Johnson said arrangements are already underway to form a political party that will become a serious contender in 2017, adding that with the CDC coming onboard, that would lead to a landslide victory or sweeping votes across the landscape of Liberia.

The 2017 presidential election is going to be a free for all poll with more big names expected to emerge, including Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine of the Liberty Party, who like George Weah of the CDC, had contested for the presidency twice and lost.
