Reginald Richmond Nance, I
December 17, 1954- December 1, 2013,
Psalm 90:1-2 & 10-12
“Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. The days of our years are threescore and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Who knoweth the power of thine anger? Even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”
The Nance, Miller, Reeves, and Morgan Families regret to announce the sudden death of Mr. Reginald Richmond Nance, former Manager at University of California (Berkeley) and a one-time employee of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC). This sad event occurred on Sunday, December 1, 2013 at his residence on DuPort Road, Paynesville.
He leaves to mourn his irreparable loss his loving wife, Mrs. Patricia Miller-Nance; his mother, Madam Emily Reeves, and two sons, Reginald Richmond Nance II and Charles O’Railey Nance II. In addition, he also leaves to mourn his two stepchildren Adam Smarte and Jerrilyn Polson. Reginald is also survived by a host of sisters and brothers, namely: Edlene Herring (Emmett) , Samuel Morgan (Gloria), Melvina Nance-Moulton (Edmund), Charlene Oretha Nance, Ivan Othello Nance (Joyce), Nina Nance, Grace Nance, Claudia Nance, Orville Nance (Amelia), Anna P. Nance, Naweh Jones (Ben), Charles O. Nance, Jr. (Skeeter), and Deconte Nance.
Reggie was predeceased by his father, Rev. Charles O. Nance; his uncle Agabus C. Nance, his aunt Aletha Nance, and two brothers, Albert Morgan and Prince Nance.
Also surviving his loss is a host of aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins, which include Lucille Scott, Abigail Boayue, and Mildred Kromah; as well as Samuel and Richelieu Nance, Samuel Morgan, Jr., Emily Herring-Braithwaite, Emmett Herring Jr., Dempsey Herring, and Sienna Nance.
Reginald was in so many ways more than just a relative; he was the essence of a family leader and confidante. He was a charismatic trendsetter who celebrated and enjoyed life to the fullest as evidenced by the warm circle of friends and associates he made wherever he went.
He leaves a long trail of lifelong friends and admirers from Ricks Institute to Cuttington University and the Liberian Community of Northern California, where he lived and worked for close to thirty years.
There are no words in the English language to describe the heart-wrenching pain that we are already feeling at his sudden home-going; and none to explain the huge gulf this will create for the rest of all our lives.
We love and miss you, Reggie Love, but God in Heaven in his eternal wisdom and understanding knows best why he called you at this time. May His soul rest in Peace.
FUNERAL WILL BE HELD ON JANUARY 11, 2014 in Monrovia, Liberia
